You'll find this welcoming chalet for 12 guests (max 10 adults) between the Portes du Soleil ski resorts of Châtel and La Chapelle-d'Abondance, both of which offer easy access to great mountain sports as well as shops, bars and restaurants. And with a quiet location and great mountain views, you'll enjoy the best of both worlds.
Châtel also has two cinemas, an ice-skating rink and a ten-pin bowling alley.
Outside the ski season, the area is a paradise for walkers, bikers and nature lovers. You could also try white water sports on the River Dranse, or enjoy fishing or a picnic at the Lac de Vonnes.

About the property...
Chalet Chavanette is a spacious three-storey property for 12 (max 10 adults) with five bathrooms and five bedrooms, two of which have cosy mezzanine floors for children.
The main entrance on the ground floor takes you into the bright and spacious living area. There's a cosy sitting area where you can get together to watch TV, and another area with seating around the log fire – perfect for gathering with friends to chat about your day. There's a huge dining table overlooking the wraparound terrace, where you'll find the hot tub (under cover), sunbeds and a table and chairs where you can enjoy a barbecue.
The fully-equipped kitchen is separate from the living area, and has everything you need to cook for a large crowd, as well as two dishwashers to make light work of clearing up. There's also a WC on this floor.
All of the bedrooms can be found on the first floor. There are five double bedrooms, each of which can be arranged with a large double bed or two single beds. Two of these rooms also have a cosy mezzanine floor under the eaves, each of which has two single beds and room for children to play. All of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, some of which also have separate showers, and four of the bedrooms also have doors to a balcony.
The lower ground floor is where you'll find the ski room with a heated boot rack, a store room and a laundry room with a washing machine and separate dryer. There's also a shower, a WC and the sauna. The ski room has its own entrance, so you can come straight in from the slopes, leave your outdoor gear and head next door to relax in the sauna!
The owner is happy to arrange a minibus service and onsite catering for guests at an extra charge.
About the area...
Chalet Chavanette is in a quiet location just 2km from the centre of the popular mountain resort of Châtel, which is part of the vast Portes du Soleil ski domain.
Situated at the end of the beautiful Abondance Valley, Châtel's altitude and location between the Alps and Lake Geneva means it enjoys a great snow record. There's a snowpark, boarder cross course and great terrain for beginners at Super-Châtel, but also plenty to test intermediates and experts in the Linga/Pre-la-Joux sector and further afield on the Swiss side of the border.
Cross-country skiers will find 49km of trails around Châtel.
In the summer, the resort attracts road cyclists drawn to the Tour de France routes. The Châtel bike park offers 20 downhill tracks, and there are plenty of bike shops and hire points in the village.
Walkers and trail runners can explore 48 circuits and 400km of paths. Families looking for child-friendly walks will appreciate the footpath around the lake, and the link to the lake at Morgins, on the Swiss side of the border. There is plenty going on at Lac de Vonnes, with fishing, paddle boarding, discovery trails and a great playground.
Châtel has been awarded the Famille Plus label, so you can be sure that children will always be well catered for, with a full programme of activities in summer and winter.
Older children will love the Fantasticable – an adrenalin-filled flight on two zip wires, which will see you flying over the hamlet of Plagne-Dranse at almost 100km/h! Other adventurous options include paragliding, rock-climbing, via ferrata, whitewater rafting and kayaking. There's no time to be bored!

“Already 3 stays here and always perfect”
Already 3 times we have rented this chalet and it is a real pleasure to find it each time. Very well equipped, ultra comfortable, peaceful, with very good bedding, sauna and jacuzzi make this stay even more enjoyable, and a highly functional restaurant-style kitchen and a large dining table. Perfect chalet for friends and family.
“Great stay in chalet”
Everything was perfect. Just a couple of things to watch out for. You need a car to travel to the village and ski lifts. If there is fresh snow, you might need chains or winter tires as the chalet is under a hill and not on the main road. Room sizes and chalet facilities are all good. People are attentive and helpful.
“Family Chalet with Stunning Views”
Spacious chalet with a stunning mountain view. We had an excellent family stay at Chalet Chavanette. The large living area, the terrace with a hot tub, and the bathrooms with toilets in every bedroom are real advantages. The concierge service is very responsive and attentive. The only minor drawback is the proximity to a busy road, which can be dangerous.

- A tenant/caretaker lives in an apartment on the lower ground floor. However, he has his own entrance and parking area and will not affect your privacy.
The owner requires a €1,000 damage and excess cleaning guarantee to be set up before arrival. No funds are taken or blocked on your card. Your card details are securely held for up to 14 days after departure. If no charge is required, they will be deleted.

Family groups, couples and groups of friends will all appreciate the flexible accommodation at Chalet Chavanette, as well as the hot tub, sauna and sunny terrace, where you can relax at the end of a busy day in the Alps.
The accommodation is set over three floors, with five en-suite bedrooms, each of which can be arranged with a large double bed or two singles. Two of the bedrooms also have a mezzanine floor with two single beds, which make ideal places for children to sleep and play.
Four of the bedrooms also open onto a balcony, where you can catch the morning sun and enjoy your coffee!
The living area on the ground floor has a cosy seating area around a log fire, another room where you can get together to watch TV and a huge dining table with plenty of room for everyone to eat together. This area opens onto a spacious, wraparound terrace where you can soak in the hot tub, lounge on the sunbeds or enjoy a barbecue.
The kitchen is separate from the rest of the living area and has everything you need to cater for a large group, including a large fridge, a freezer and two dishwashers.
The washing machine and dryer can be found in the laundry room on the lower ground floor, next to a storage room. There's also a ski room with a heated boot rack, a WC and a shower right next door to the sauna, so you can come straight in after an exciting day and revive those aching limbs!

As avid skiers, we had enjoyed ski holidays in different resorts all over Europe every year. Then one year we decided to take a luxury chalet holiday with all of the family to celebrate a special birthday of mine.
After experiencing a luxury chalet holiday I didn’t want to go back to anything less!! I created and successfully sold a business in 2008, and having sufficient money to invest inspired me to find a winter home for all the family to enjoy.
Some 15 years ago, in the beautiful Portes Du Soleil area, we discovered this chalet. It offers all amenities and a comfortable and cosy atmosphere where we can relax after a hard day skiing.
It is spacious, with ample room for children to explore and play without disturbing the adults in the ski party. We have a garden with a slope which is a perfect toboggan area for children in the winter.
This space was very important for us, as my husband and I have three children and 10 grandchildren between us.
Although it is a perfect winter holiday destination, it is equally wonderful in summer time. It has a large terrace with outdoor furniture and breathtaking views down the valley.
Its proximity to Lake Léman and five golf courses, local amenities and walking and biking opportunities makes it a perfect summer holiday destination as well.
